Eden Prairie Lacrosse Association

The Eden Prairie Lacrosse Association will again be participating in the 3rd through 8th grade summer lacrosse league administered by Youth Lacrosse of Minnesota (YLM).   The YLM will again form leagues at the 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 grade levels.  Registration will be open in late February and the Boys Commissioners (newly created positions this year)  will be holding a parents meeting in mid-April where more information will be provided.  We will also be looking to recruit team managers and other volunteers before the season starts.

Eligibility:   YLM rules require that participants be limited to players residing or open-enrolled in the Eden Prairie School District.  Waivers are possible. Please contact our YLM representative Mike Gengler for more information on waivers.

Teams:   We play in the West District of the YLM.  We are anticipating roughly the same total number of teams as 2011: two at the 3/4 level and three to four each at 5/6 grade and the 7/8 grade levels.  Each team will have approximately 23 players. 

League Format:   Per YLM rules, the 3/4 grade teams will participate at one level of competitive play and the teams will be divided as equally as possible by grade and skill levels.  The 5/6 and 7/8 grade teams will participate at two levels of competitive play.  This is new this year at the 5/6 level.  Evaluations to determine team alignments will take place late afternoon/early evening on April 22nd . 

Practice Schedule:   We will once again attempt to limit the practices and games to weekdays only, leaving time for family activities over the weekends.  We usually run a practice or two each week at Staring Lake Park off Pioneer Trail across from Flying Cloud Airport or on the EPHS turf.   

Game Schedule/Season Timeline:   Each team will have at least ten league games during the regular season.  League games will start in the week of June 11th and regular season games will continue through the end of July with playoffs held the week of July 30th and YLM State Championship Tournament will be the held the first weekend of August.  Each team at the 5/6 and 7/8 level will participate in one local tournament and this cost will be included in the registration fee.  Decisions on tournament participation at the 3/4 level will be at the discretion of each team.

Equipment:   Your son will be required to provide his own lacrosse helmet, lacrosse gloves, arm guards and shoulder pads.  He will also need a mouthguard, cleats and a water bottle.  Please contact your grade level Commissioner if you need advice on obtaining equipment.

Cost:   We are anticipating a fee of  $240 per player at the 5/6 & 7/8 levels and $200 for 3/4 teams.  This fee is all-inclusive and provides for uniforms and one tournament entry. Scholarships are available.  Please contact your grade level Commissioner for further information on scholarships.

Registration:  Once registration is live, you can register for the program at your current grade level online.  Once the cutoff is reached for each grade level, additional registrants will be added to a wait list in anticipation of an additional team for that level.
